Great Books
I got some birthday money and look what I bought. An illustrated book telling the story of the Brontë sisters.
It brings together my love for art and classic literature.
It’s hardcover and makes a beautiful gift for the Brontë lover in your life.
I’ve raised all of my kids in Asia. At the same time as we’ve embraced the cultures where we live, I’ve worked really hard to help my kids connect to their Canadian roots.
I bought this book for my daughter as a part of her Grade 12 English class.
It’s about an Ojibway boy who was taken from his home and raised in foster care. Then after some troublesome teen years, returns to his reserve to discover his roots.
I think my kids especially relate to cultural stories like these, because of their own experiences.
*While I haven’t read this book yet and can’t vouch for the content I’m looking forward to the conversations this book leads to with my daughter.

Sound & Scent
Have you ever taken a 15 hour flight?
It’s LONG!
I flew to Canada with an old pair of headphones that was falling apart, and back to Asia with these dreams. They’re so comfortable and while I’m not a sound expert, Brian loves all things sound and picked them out for me.
I was quite impressed.
And I love the colour options.
Oh the freshness and liveliness of the scent of peppermint.
I have it drifting into the air now, through my diffuser, and I love it. On those days I feel low in energy it lifts me up.
And now, with Christmas approaching, I’m trying to find ways to make my tropical environment remind me of the holidays at home. It’s working.
Oh, the scent of peppermint!

Hiking Sandals
Footwear is a big decision for me. I’ve had a problem with my back, since my teen years, so I’m always looking for footwear with good support.
Combine that with living in the tropics and I found a sandal I am 100% happy with. I take long, long walks in these and wear them in boats. They’re versatile and comfortable.
They have amazing support!
